Fraser Island is one of Australia’s top holiday destinations and it’s not hard to see why. With it’s stunning beaches, lush rainforest interior, picturesque lakes and so much more, it really is the most incredible place to visit.
Here we take a look at it’s many attractions, the wide range of accommodation that is available and some of the activities you can enjoy while you are here on this World Heritage listed paradise.
Fraser Island Accommodation
Fraser Island is the ideal destination whatever your budget: there are luxury resorts for those seeking the very best and self contained apartments for families and others who want comfort and convenience at an affordable price.
There are also holiday houses for that home-away-from-home experience, backpacker accommodation for anyone travelling on a very tight budget and for nature-lovers, there are a number of campsites around the island where you can sleep beneath the stars.
Activities on Fraser Island
There are plenty of activities for you to enjoy during your visit: of course swimming and surfing are very popular pastimes, there are walks through the incredible rainforest and around the island that range from a gentle stroll to challenging (but very rewarding) hikes.
You can take a tour and get the benefit of some local knowledge of the spectacular surroundings, or maybe you would like to explore the island at your own pace by 4WD! If you are visiting between July and November, you shouldn’t miss the chance for some whale-watching: it’s the most incredible experience!
Day Tours
You can also take a day tour from locations on the mainland that will let you experience some of the wonders of Fraser Island from the comfort of an air-conditioned coach. These include features like guided walks, a chance to witness some of the highlights of Fraser Island, a BBQ or buffet-style lunch, time for a swim and will still get you back to your departure point in time for dinner.
Boat services for passengers and vehicles are available between Hervey Bay and River Heads on the mainland and Fraser Island: as timetables are subject to change, please confirm current departure times before making your trip.
We look forward to welcoming you soon!
